Lots of activity this month! Two from Tobin Street and one from Westside went to Four Paws last Monday for fixing. I've never used Four Paws for ferals before and I must say, it was a pleasant experience. Lori shared some great tips with me to make the next trip even smoother and they even kept the kitties overnight so I didn't have to worry about them being safe while they were healing. I picked them up Tuesday after work and everyone was smiling and feeling good :)
The two from Tobin Street are from the last litter that Momma had. Momma is a black female that started out at my house with a litter of five then dropped a second litter of six two blocks over about a year later. Thank goodness we finally managed to trap her this past fall so no more kittens from Momma! I'll be going back in April to trap the remaining four youngsters on Tobin and stabilize that colony. They have a great colony manager but she has enough to handle for now!
The other little lady from Westside was too young to go last year when a couple of her mates got fixed but she was ready this time and everything went fine.
Then we had a young male yellow tabby and a pretty little calico girl that went to Dr. Theresa this week. Both were back to their colony by mid-afternoon. We'll finish this month strong with two more males from that same colony going in on Tuesday or Wednesday. Whew! Lot of running around but it's worth it to know that those cats are now vaccinated, fixed and won't being bringing any little unwanted kittens in to the world.
April is shaping up to be just as busy as March. Want to help? Contact us! We would love to talk to you about how you can help.
